Charity updates
Tuesday March 6, 2007 by Paul Martin
I really value the support of all of you for my chosen charities. All the people involved with them are exceptionally dedicated to what they do. Here’s a quick catch up of what has been happening.
Animals Asia
Again, Animals Asia have a series of fund raising activities for this year. I will be taking part in the Walk for Freedom on Wimbledon Common on the 1st September. I hope to see all of you that took part last year again, along with a few new supporters too. I will hopefully also be involved in their charity’s auctions over the summer, but we are still waiting to confirm dates. Later on in the year I will also be honored to be judging a poetry competition on behalf of the charity.
Bluebelle the wonderful moon bear so many of you have helped to save is doing well, along with all the other bears. However I believe she is still having problems with her eyes.
I would not usually do this, but this particular lady, Dianne Baldry has put in a great deal of effort raising money for Animals Asia over the last year. Again, Dianne will be walking the Wimbledon Common dog walk. Here is a link to her sponsor site. I may have a site set up nearer the time by Animals Asia, but I would be just as pleased if you donated the money via here:

Gloucestershire Wildlife Rescue
I have recently been interviewed by Animal Friends insurance, a company that donates all their net profits to animal charities. As a thank you for this they have donated £1000 to Gloucestershire Wildlife Rescue. I can’t thank Elaine at Animal Friends enough for this on the charity’s behalf. I know that the money will go a long way to help the work that they do.
Friends of the Strays of Greece
I am very pleased to say, after being involved with the Strays of Greece last year for a charity auction, they have asked me to be a patron of their charity. As with all the animal charities I support, please take the time to look at their website, (click on the links page) and see the tireless work they are doing. Currently they are battling against the illegal poisoning of so many dogs and cats in Greece. Many thanks to the msn fan site that have donated money to the Friends of the Strays of Greece already. There is a charity dog walk organized on Sunday 1st April at Castleman Trailway-Moors Valley, Ashley Heath, Nr Ringwood. Unfortunately I can’t make it, but it would be great to hear from a few that are taking part – and I’ll do my best to take part next year!
It is impossible for me to cover all the individual fundraising that people are doing and has been done, but I hope this goes some way to highlight all the great work and supporters there are.
Paul
